Steven Kalish, The Last Gentleman Smuggler, Mastermind 1969-1984
When The Last Gentleman Smuggler Steven was released from prison, he chose to confront the stigma of his past, become a legitimate businessman, and create a future that would make a difference in the world.
Having run one of the most successful marijuana-importation empires of all-time and having built two multi-million-dollar businesses from the ground-up, Steven Kalish has a Fortune 500 Company’s understanding of marketing strategy. Steven traveled the world to build his company, KwikSystems, LLC, and Prepaid Enterprises, LLC where he sold people on solutions for processing the transactions of pre-paid products (gift cards/calling cards) at point-of-sale retailers (CVS, Walgreens, and many others). Steven doesn’t just know how to appeal to markets… he’s proven he can establish and create them.
Steven feels that now is the time to tell his story. He wants people to understand the dynamics that led him down a path of smuggling marijuana, his road to redemption and what he has achieved over the past fifty years. The national opinion of marijuana has changed significantly in recent years. Pot is now legal for recreational use in dozens of states and for medicinal use in more, including D.C. The prospect of marijuana becoming a miracle cure for treating cancer(s), anxiety, PTSD, and other diseases such as Alzheimer’s is a possibility as well. When Steven isn’t writing or speaking, he’s enjoying life on a tropical island with his wife.
Together they have built a sanctuary for people to be treated for illness and disease through equine therapies and other non-traditional treatments. Steven also volunteered for Landmark Education for over 7 years, working with thousands of participants in their program, and even received their Award of Excellence. Hundreds of articles have already been written about Steven. From the New York Times to the Washington Post, L.A. Times, Houston Chronicle, Austin Statesman, Galveston Daily News and nearly everywhere in-between, he has graced the cover of the largest newspapers in the country. His Outlaw ways interest the Alternative Rock world in publications like High Times Magazine, Punk Globe Magazine, Steel Notes and is multi-generational.
Nikki and Steven worked together on The Last Gentleman Smuggler discovering their Gulf Coast roots and interest in the drug epidemic as well as the simplicity of that drug world during the innocent hippie days, through the disco craze, punk and grunge rock fiascos.
